"The Flames of Purgatory" is the name of the power that was once wielded by the Code: Emperor which granted him the ability to create and control seven different flames, each of which was tied to a certain sin and held a unique ability.
Currently, this ability is held by one of his descendants, Rei Ogami.
Nature []
Each of the seven flames, besides having its own unique ability and personality, also has a price that Ogami must pay in order to fully utilize them.
However, it's been suggested that individuals born with power can gain full access to these abilities without needing to pay anything, such as with Ogami whom had full control over the flames as a child.
However, after the incident of "December 32nd", Ogami had to enter into a contract with the Code: Emperor in order to gain access to the flames, having lost all memories of ever possessing them in the first place.

Satan[]
- True Form: A blue-colored fire held in the palm of the user's hand.
- Related Sin: Wrath.
- Nickname: Azure Flame.
- Description: These inextinguishable blue flames are the strongest of all powers, capable of incinerating the opponent's body and soul, turning them into fiery apparitions. Not only can they burn anything (with the sole known exception of Rare Kinds), but the user can also seal them within a target's body until they commit a crime, in which case they burst forth and consumes them till nothing remains.
- Price: Ogami gave up his sense of taste.
Belphegor[]
- True Form: A skeleton robed in black flame with a crown atop its head.
- Related Sin: Sloth.
- Nickname: Black Flames of Limbo.
- Description: Belphegor cloaks the user in black flames which protects them from abilities which are "tainted by sin" by "burning away" their effects, nullifying them and therefore rendering them harmless. However, unlike those produced by Satan, Belphegor's fire cannot be used to damage anything physical.
- Price: Yuuki's Sound, which Ogami temporarily gained after their battle and subsequently gave away to Code: Emperor as payment.
Mammon[]
- True Form: A pair of skeletal birds, one bathed in blue flames and the other in yellow, that each wear miniature crowns.
- Related Sin: Greed.
- Nickname Dichromatic Twin Flares of the Netherworld.
- Description: Mammon allows the user to conjure forth two swords, one made of blue fire and the other yellow, which are capable of radiating extreme heat and intense cold respectively. When combined, these blades are capable of emitting air pressure and creating immensely powerful whirlwinds of scorching heat.
- Price: Saving the life of the Code: Emperor, much to Ogami's embarrassment.
Beelzebub[]
- True Form: A skeleton with angel-like wings made of translucent flames.
- Related Sin: Gluttony.
- Nickname: Achromatic Catharsis Flame of Purgatory.
- Description: Beelzebub, also known as the "Flame of Judgement", emits a colorless flame exceeding temperatures of 1500°C (or 2732°F) which can either be used to envelop the wielder in an invisible armor of pure heat capable of disintegrating whatever they makes contact with, or launched into the sky before raining back down to vaporize all who're unlucky enough to be caught within the area of effect.
- Price: Ogami's heart will be consumed upon his death.
Leviathan[]
- True Form: A massive, serpentine dragon with a body composed of icy, silver flames.
- Related Sin: Envy
- Nickname: Argenteous Phantom Flame of Hades.
- Description: Leviathan is a silver flame which can both shred whatever matter it comes into direct contact with and (should the opponent hold envy in their heart) produce freezing cold temperatures by absorbing all heat within the immediate area.
- Price: In order to use its true ability, Ogami must feed Leviathan envy from his opponent(s).
Asmodeus[]
- True Form: A beautiful yet demonic-looking woman.
- Related Sin: Lust.
- Nickname: Iridescent Explosive Flame of Hell.
- Description: Asmodeus can entrap a target within an eternal illusion of lust, which slowly consumes their souls, as well as produce large-scale explosions by causing chemical reactions using the alloys in the immediate surroundings.
- Price: Ogami gave up his sense of smell.
Lucifer[]
- True Form:
- Related Sin: Pride.
- Nickname:
- Description: A red-colored flame that looks like an upgraded version of those made by Satan, Lucifer can unite all the other flames together for a stronger power, allowing the user to burn away "nothingness".
- Price: Ogami loses his memories.
